      <image:title>Services - My Approach to Psychotherapy</image:title>
<image:caption>At times, it can seem like life events control the way people feel, creating feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. At other times, a person may struggle with feeling unmotivated or purposeless without any specific cause. I believe psychotherapy empowers people by gaining understanding of specific struggles while actively developing skills to create change. People often seek treatment when they feel they have lost touch with the things that bring meaning and direction to life. A key part of our work will be identifying the things that matter to you and finding ways that therapy can bring you closer to a life that is more connected with your personal values.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Tobias Keene, D.D.S. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. He moved to Washington, D.C. over thirty years ago as a freshman at Ivy College. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries. When not striving to keep his patients happy and healthy, he’s enjoys hiking with his family in Rock Creek Park.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About Me - About Me</image:title>
<image:caption>I work with adults 18 and older, using a collaborative process to determine what interventions best fit an individual’s unique needs. I utilize evidence-based treatments, that is, treatments supported by rigorous scientific research, particularly those from an acceptance and mindfulness-based perspective. I believe behavioral wellness is enhanced by clarifying personal values and balancing acceptance of what is with concrete goals for change. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Brown University and my doctorate in the Clinical Psychology program at Suffolk University, accredited by the American Psychological Association. I was fortunate to be mentored by Dr. Susan M. Orsillo, a pioneer of the field of acceptance and mindfulness-based interventions. I trained at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders at Boston University, the adolescent inpatient unit of Bradley Hospital in Rhode Island, and the VA Boston Healthcare System in the Center for Returning Veterans, Women’s Trauma Recovery Team, and the Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program. I completed predoctoral clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at VA Boston. I have worked as a staff psychologist at the West End Clinic and the Home Base Program of Massachusetts General Hospital. Currently, I am a staff psychologist in the Outpatient Addictions Service of the Cambridge Health Alliance, as well as the Clinical Leader for Trauma Treatment. I also supervise psychology trainees and serve on the psychiatry department’s Complex Case Review Committee.</image:caption>
